Chapter 6.

When JaeJoong got back to his place he locked the door and went to his room and broke down. He hated himself for leaving like that, for not letting Changmin know how much he meant to him; but he knew that if he had it would ruin everything. He picked up a small glass ornament in his room and threw it against the wall, watching it scatter to the floor in pieces. Before now he had never understood why people would do such a thing, but now it all made sense, in a way it was very cathartic, because the way it shattered was what he pictured his heart as in this moment. He wanted to call Yoochun, to tell him every last detail; but he just couldn’t. Had anyone else known what happened it could turn into the next big scandal and his father would suffer more because of his loose lips. So here he was trashing his room not caring one way another about picking up the pieces later, he did this until his whole body felt heavy then he laid down on his bed and cried himself to sleep.

  Two months later.

“I can’t belive you’re getting married so soon” Junsu said, amazement in his voice as he took a sip of champagne. “I didn’t think DongWook would be such a beast in bed…he got you good from the first try” he started laughing in his characteristic squeaky voice. Changmin glared at his best friend and was about to retort to him when he felt a soft hand slide into his and gently squeeze it. When he looked up and saw it was Dongwook he sent him a bright smile and squeezed back his hand.

After that night with Jaejoong and the way they parted, he knew nothing would ever be the same between them…but he at least tried to sociable. They met a couple of more times but the atmosphere got awkwardly silent more often than not and after a couple more of such meetings, they didn’t meet at all. That’s about the time when Changmin started feeling ill. He had weird mood swings, he’d get sick or grossed out from strong scents…he had lost his apetite and he’d throw up almost every morning. He didn’t think it was anything serious, just that maybe the stress and the sleepless nights spent helping Yunho with the company had worn him out.

It was way past lunchtime when he arrived back at the company and into Yunho’s office. When he got inside, he saw Yunho checking some files while eating his last peanut butter sandwhich. The moment he smelled the peanut butter his stomach started doing flips and he droped his briefcase and rushed to the bathroom to puke. Yunho was by his side immediately, rubbing his back gently. After he emptied his stomach for the second time that day, he got up on shaky legs and was about to say something when he felt the world around him turn and swirl and flip and the last thing he remembers before fainting is the worried voice of his brother. When he woke up he was in a hospital bed with a worried Dongwook in a chair beside him. When the doctor came and told them the “happy” news, Changmin prayed to every God he knew that he’ll wake up right now in his own bed and that everything was a dream…but it wasn’t…it was as real as a baby could be. Changmin was pregnant. With Jaejoongs baby.

Changmin would forever be grateful to Dongwook. After what happened with Jaejoong , he couldn’t keep it in and told him everything. He listened silently and after Changmin finished he hugged him and told him that he loved him. He told him that he’ll be by his side no matter what…just as long as Changmin will let him. After the doctor left the room Changmin was looking with a shocked face at him and he knew that very instant all the thoughts running through Changmin’s head, so he hugged him tight and told him everything will be alright. As Changmin hugged him tighter and sobbed he assured him with gentle and loving words that he will never forget.

“Everything will be alright MinMin. Don’t cry, I’ll always be by your side. If you want to keep him, we’ll raise him together. I’m sure she / he’ll be a gorgeous baby…just like you.”

Changmin would forever be grateful to Dongwook, that’s why when he asked him to marry him, he didn’t hesitate and said “YES”.

In the weeks to come JaeJoong threw himself into work and when he wasn’t working, he was sulking and depressed or trying to calmly explain to Yoochun that he wasn’t suicidal even though sometimes it really felt that way. He had fainted twice at work, he didn’t bother eating right or staying hydrated and sleep was always evasive. HeeChul had visited a couple times to try and cheer him up. However nothing really would, he knew the only way to happiness was Changmin. Everything was Changmin since he appeared in his life again. The few times that he saw him the tension was so thick he could barely stand it, he honestly thought he probably hated him for what he did, and he didn’t know where to start with an explanation, and his thoughts were a big jumble every time he was around him. Always present was the battle of responsibility versus want and desire, but the former always won out. He had done too little for his father, and there were too many lives at stake for him to do what he wanted.

One day he walked into his fathers office trying to find something that he had been sent for, and on the disorganized desk was a beautiful looking wedding invitation, lace and high quality paper with stylish accents, his stomach didn’t flip until he saw who exactly was getting married and this time when he fainted he hit his head on the corner of the desk, if it hadn’t been for his father checking up on him he could have been in critical condition from the hairline gash. He woke up in a hospital bed Yoochun beside him like always. Tears welled in his eyes as he remembered the invitation, “Yoochun…he’s…..” he said and Yoochun just nodded in understanding. “Yeah our little brother’s becoming a man…also from what I heard it’s because he’s pregnant.” Jaejoong sat in shock staring into the others eyes not believing what he said. “But….I mean….how long?” he asked Yoochun, who in turn shook his head indicating he didn’t know.

Changmin was in his living room, on the sofa, in his hands his wedding invitation. As his eyes roved over the line “ You are cordially invited to celebrate the wedding of Choi Dongwook and Jung Shim Changmin….” for the hundredth time, he still couldn’t get used to the idea that he was getting married. He was getting married to someone he’s not even inlove with .. “Someone who’s not Jaejoong” said a tiny voice in his head. In a week’s time he won’t be Jung Shim Changmin anymore…but Choi Changmin. “Kim Changmin sounds so much better” added the voice in his head…but Changmin tried to ignore it. He knows he’s stubborn, and prideful, by ignoring all of Jaejoongs calls and trying to avoid him whenever they’d cross paths, but he can’t help it. He just can’t face him anymore, afraid that the other will somehow read it all on his face. Afraid that once they meet Jaejoong will know that he’s inlove with him and that he’s carrying his child. What then? Will he throw everything aside and be with him, just because of their past or just because of pure obligation because he’s carrying his child? Or will he disregard everything and make him abort the baby just because it’s not a child made from love but from a drunken one night stand? Changmin shakes his head and pushes away all those rampant useless thoughts and continues to stare at the invitation, being a bit startled as he feels someone sit beside him on the sofa.

“Hey Min,” he looks up and sees the soft and knowing smile of his best friend Junsu. He smiles back at him then goes back staring at the square piece of carton that’s announcing a new beginning in his life. Junsu sighs and before he even has the chance to open his mouth and say something, Changmin speaks ahead of him.
“But Min…”
“I said don’t…Junsu. We’ve been through this and whatever you have to say today, I bet it’s nothing new to what you said the other day..and the other…and the other…and even if it was…I’m not interested in listening.”
He sighs and mumbles softly, only for him to hear, “ I shouldn’t have told you the truth..if i knew you’d be like this….”

Junsu knows about the baby and about Jaejoong. Changmin couldn’t keep it from his best friend so he eventually told him the truth. What he didn’t think was that said best friend instead of supporting his decision would advise him, scratch that, more like pester him, everyday since then,24/7, to tell Jaejoong the truth. But Changmin has already made up his mind. He will, never, under any circumstance, tell Jaejoong that the baby is his. Because it isn’t …it’s only HIS baby…and soon Dongwook’s too. Yes, that’s how it is. That’s how it should be…
